Almost Here: The Best Month to Buy a Car

Planning on buying a car soon? Wait until December to buy. The number of cars sold in December are far lower than any other month. I experienced this when I was a car dealer, there just aren't many people looking to buy in December. Most people are too busy shopping for Christmas gifts, going to Christmas parties and making plans for New Year’s Eve.

New and used car buying data consistently shows December is the best time of the year to buy. Yearly, quarterly and monthly sales goals are all coming to an end. Meeting these goals in December requires offering the best deals possible. New car buying incentives are high because franchise dealers are trying to clear their lots to make room for new model year inventory. Common incentives include cash rebates and zero percent financing. Deeper discounts are offered on new car sticker prices and used car asking prices.

As days go by in December, deals offered and dealer’s willingness to negotiate increases, with New Year’s Eve being the most likely day to get the best deal. Need help because you’re a first time buyer, or don’t want to make another buying mistake? We can help, contact us for more information.
